Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season 8 finale.the masked singer.
The lambs migrated to greener pastures.
The harmonious trio were the first to go home in the packed Season 8 finale on Wednesday.the masked singer, which automatically meant that Harp won the season. However, before she could be crowned and unmasked, these adorable finalists had to be revealed.
panelistsNicole Scherzinger, robin, ken jeong, miJenny McCarthy-Wahlberghe did very well in the final, with two of the four guessing correctly. McCarthy-Wahlberg stuck to his previous assumption of Chicks, and Jeong received his usual boos from the crowd for his advice about the Kardashian sisters. But it was Scherzinger and Thicke who went with the pop group.wilson phillips- made up of the Carnie sisters and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips - and ultimately reigned victorious.
EW caught up with two of the three Lambs (Phillips couldn't make it) to discuss which of them had turned down the show in the past, the bizarre coincidence behind Harry Styles' cover art, and more.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First of all, congratulations on the ending. Did you intend to win the show or were you just happy with how it turned out?
WENDY WILSON:Well, I mean, we wanted to win, but basically we were ready for anything. If we end up winning, great. Otherwise we would be happy with the winner.
CARNIE WILSON:To the right. But we also knew we had to really focus, and part of the weirdness of the show is that you don't know who anyone is. So you don't know who you're fighting, it's like you have to compete with yourself all the time because you don't know who the hell is under the mask.

What was your reaction when you received the invitation to the show?
WENDY:We were a bit surprised. We are honestly flattered that you thought of us. And I was a little surprised, but it was exciting. I was really good.
PENALTIES:I have been asked twice to do this myself. And I was really too scared to do it myself. So when they called and said [it was for] Wilson Phillips, I was like, "Good!" We all sing solos, but nothing beats the sound of all three. And I felt like it would be okay if we were all together. But that didn't take away from the initial, wow, because it's such a great show kind of reality. And people take it very seriously. There is so much mystery. And I thought what isrealappeal to her? She has that almost European-Japanese TV feel. But the real draw that makes it so exciting, and I don't know, kind of fun, is the fact that there are skins. People love a before and after, they love a revelation. It's very dramatic. So we knew it was important to be invited to be a part of that.
WENDY:Certainly.
It seems you liked it. What was your favorite show?
WENDY:I was so excited because I got to sing my favorite song by my favorite country band, which is "Need You Now" by Lady A.
PENALTIES:And that was my idea.
WENDY:It was Carnie's idea, but it was a dream come true for me.
PENALTIES:Yes, I like that too. I thought "Ironic" was really cool because it was like a total explosion of harmony when the song wasn't really harmonic. I mean, there was some harmony on the Alanis [Morissette] album, but we were very lucky to get clearance for the song because the co-writer on that song was our co-writer and producer Glen Ballard. I don't know if he pulled some strings with the publisher, but in the end they said, "Just for you, we'll work this out," so we were very lucky with Ironic.
I know they let you tell some people you did the show if they sign a nondisclosure agreement. Did you let someone else do this?
WENDY:I mean, when we came home with our kids and stuff, I think they knew what was going on. But they were sworn to secrecy. So that's it.
PENALTIES:I mean, they told us not to tell anyone. So we told our mom and I told my best friend and the kids and that was it. And it was very hard. because every weekone Week, anyone, whether it's literally in the beauty salon or in the market or anywhere else, someone would say, "Hey, are you the lambs?" I had to smile and say, "Oh, you'll have to find out," or change the subject. I mean, it really wasn't easy. And I had to ignore the tweets. Just ignore, ignore, ignore. I generally don't like to be ignored.
WENDY:Are you kidding! [both laugh]
On the show, you mentioned that you wanted to make your kids proud. you are proud
WENDY:You know, I think they freaked out a little about it. When they see it, they don't know what's going on.
PENALTIES:It's so crazy how the show is where they have the leads and the next and the next: it's really high energy. The show is so crazy. And I think the kids, whenever they see us perform, I think I can speak for all of them, they're always so proud. But they are so humble. And they're so used to seeing us play, but it's almost like... I can't explain it. It's like they don't want it to be real because they're not afraid, but...
WENDY:I also think if her friends found out, hopefully they'd be cool, you know? And then they'd say, "Oh yeah!"
PENALTIES:Or that they were worried that someone would ask them about it because they knew better than to tell anyone. My daughter Lola, she is 17 years old, she has been approached a couple of times. In fact, so is Lucy, my 13-year-old daughter, but they are very smart. They knew how to avoid it.
You just dropped your first new song in 10 years and it's a cover of Harry Styles' Boyfriends. Why did you choose this song?
WENDY:First of all, we love Harry Styles. We are big fans of yours. And when we heard "Boyfriends", we knew that this song could be perfect for us because of the three part harmony. So we just said, 'You know what, guys? Let's do it.
PENALTIES:Yes, and a funny little thing happened to me. My daughter Lola - Harry's record just came out and he's listening to it. And even though "Boyfriends" wasn't the first single, she told me, "Mom, you have to listen to this song. It's amazing." And I especially remember we were walking through In-N-Out drive-thru and I was playing the song and we were in a long line and I played the song and I was like, "This would be great for Wilson Phillips." , "Yeah, you should ask the girls." I said, "Yeah, I have to ask her." When we got our burgers we stopped to eat and I checked my email.
WENDY:Those are nice touches by the way.
PENALTIES:I know I'm sorry. And there was an email from our manager saying, "You guys need to hear the song 'Boyfriends'. I think that would be a great cover for you guys." And so it happened less than 20 minutes after Lola said it. And then we hear the song again in a hotel. And we thought: 'This is it. We have to do this." But isn't that weird?

It was Kismet! Does this mean that you will release more music together?
PENALTIES:I always cross my fingers. So I hope so. I hope this is a catalyst for something. I know there is much more creativity, songwriting and singing in our hearts and souls and nothing satisfies us like singing and writing together. It's been a long time since we wrote songs together. That would be the last [goal] for me, because we've already done a couple of cover albums. It's source material time.
WENDY:Yes, it's been many, many years since we delved into our creativity and created our own. So it would be really cool to see what we have inside and release some original music.
