While most games still have predominantly male protagonists, the RPG genre is one of the few genres to have had a relatively large number of amazing female protagonists since the 1990s. Along with horror franchises like Resident Evil or visual novel franchises like Ace Attorney, RPGs tend to have some of the most memorable and memorable female characters in video games.

With so many famous women appearing in so many classic RPG titles and series like Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem, it's hard to single out just a few examples. But there are a few characters that stand out from the rest.
Considered one of the greatest games of all time, Ōkamii is an action-adventure game with a beautiful sumi-e inspired art style that focuses on Japanese mythology and folklore. Koudelka Iasant - Koudelka
Created by Hiroki Kikuta, who previously worked as composer for the Manase series, Koudelkai is a survival horror RPG and the first entry in the Shadow Hearts series. The action takes place in 1898 in Aberystwyth, Wales. The main character, a young Roma girl named Koudelka Iasant, endowed with clairvoyance, finds herself in the Nemeton monastery after being led there by a ghost. In an attempt to uncover the dark secrets of this place, he teams up with adventurer Edward Plunkett and Bishop James O'Flaherty.
Due to her psychic powers, Koudelka was banished from her Roma village as a child and spent most of her life barely surviving on her own. Rot – Tranzystor
Transistors was developed by the independent studio Supergiant Games, which also created other critically acclaimed titles such as Hades, Pyre and Bastion. It is an action role-playing game that follows a young woman named Red as she travels through the city of Cloudbank, fighting a robot named Process with her lightsaber named Transistor. After a group called the Camerata tries to kill Red but kills her lover instead, Red loses her voice and goes on a journey to find out why she was targeted.

Prinzessin Eirika – Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
Often regarded as one of the best games in the entire Fire Emblem series, the 2004 tactical JRPG Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones was released for the Game Boy Advance as the third and final sequel to Fire Emblem. The game is about two twins, Princess Eirice and Prince Ephraim, who try to stop the Grado Empire from invading other nations and destroying the sacred stones.
Unlike her more open and impulsive brother, Eirika dislikes violence and has a much more sober mind. Although he wants everything to be resolved peacefully, he adapts to circumstances and leads his troops effectively, but he is always looking for ways to be merciful and forgiving.
Aya Brea - Parasite of Eva
Developed as a sequel to the sci-fi horror of the same name, Parasite Eve is a 1998 JRPG action horror game for PS1 that spawned two sequels.The original game takes place during the Christmas seasonand follows the main character, New York police officer Aya Brea, as she tries to stop a woman, Eve, who wants to annihilate humanity by awakening the mitochondria in their bodies.

Terra Branford – Final Fantasy VI
